Frequently asked questions
Q: Why hire a bookkeeper instead of just a CPA?
A: CPA’s are great for taxes, but they charge up to $450/hour for daily bookkeeping. I handle the details at a significantly lower cost, so your CPA can focus on tax prep without extra cleanup, saving them time and you money.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: I keep pricing simple and flexible, with two options depending on your needs: ongoing monthly subscriptions or one time cleanup services. Schedule your free consultation on the Contact page, so I can walk you through how our services work and discuss which plan fits your needs.
Q: Do you only work with the food and beverage industry?
A: Yes! In the food and beverage industry, every sale, tip, and expense matters— but only if transactions are mapped correctly. I provide specialized bookkeeping that categorizes every transaction and reconciles accounts seamlessly, giving you clear financial insight. With 9+ years in foodservice and beverage manufacturing/distribution, I understand food costs, labor, POS systems, and your unique challenges—and tailor your books to fit.
Q: What happens in a consultation?
A: During our virtual consultation, you’ll give me insight into your specific business. I’ll learn about your current set-up and what challenges you’re facing. Once I have a clear idea of how I can best serve you, we’ll be able to talk through what tier plan will be the best fit for your business. I’ll breakdown my bookkeeping process and answer any questions you may have.
Q: What can I expect once I hire you?
A: Once hired, I will need secure online access to your bank/credit card accounts and QuickBooks Online, plus receipts or invoices when needed. There are typically uncategorized transactions that I will have questions about. Your timely response keeps everything running smoothly and efficiently. Your bank transactions will be mapped to their proper accounts weekly, and all bank/credit card accounts will be reconciled by the 10th of every month.
Q: What about confidentiality?
A: As a bookkeeper for over 9 years in Redding, I fully understand the sensitive nature of a business’s innermost workings - especially in a small town. I want to assure you that everything we discuss and all financial information you share is held in the strictest confidence. Protecting your data is not only a professional obligation but also a cornerstone of my business. Your privacy will always be respected, as laid out in the confidentiality contract signed upon hiring.
Q: Do you replace my CPA?
A: No, I’m the prep cook and your CPA is the head chef. I keep your books clean so they can focus on taxes. All tax planning and regulation questions should be directed to a qualified CPA.
Q: What makes you different?
A: I’m QuickBooks Pro Certified, specialize in restaurant POS integrations, and honestly love numbers. Keeping books balanced is my happy place!
Q: Can you fix messy books?
A: Absolutely! I’ll clean up your records and get your accounts organized so you have a fresh start. See the Services tab for more details.
